Summary

Honda "American Honda Motor Co." is recalling certain 2020-2021 CRF1100 Africa Twin motorcycles equipped with a dual-clutch transmission "DCT". A software error in the engine control unit "ECU", may disconnect the controller area network "CAN" communication and release the clutch, which can result in an engine stall or a loss of drive power.

Consequence

An engine stall or a loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy

Dealers will update the ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 6, 2022. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-866-784-1870. Honda's number for this recall is KNB.
